Weingut Kirsten
This winery is located in one of the best locations along the Mosel river. It has vineyards with an incline of up tp 86% requesting hand work only. Bernhard Kirsten is know to consequently ensure the quality of his wines not only in the cellar but mainly in the vineyard. Rigid pruning and picking of the grapes when they are most aromatic are the main criteria of his work. This results in wines that express the Mosel characteristics perfectly.
Even his dry wines do not lose the typoical fruity aromas of the Moselriesling. For us his style so far is unmatched.
Alte Reben (Old Vines) 2015
Almost 100 years old Riesling vines deliver a dense and complex and spectacular wine. Ungrafted vines planted in the 1920's, on bottom of our Herzstück in the Klüsserather Bruderschaft with the more powerful and waterkeeping soil, 100 % slate, extremely weathered. A very powerful, full, dry and mineralic wine that makes you remember it long time after you tasted it. The sugar and acidy are perfectly balanced in this wine. A really powerful wine that even goes well with hearty meals. 13 % by volume, 8 g/L sugar and 6,4 g/L acid
