Xavier Vins is a relatively youthful, serious negociant company has been doing some extraordinary consulting work in Chateauneuf du Pape.
They access gorgeous fruit from many different appellations and are doing a top-flight job of
getting impressive quality into the bottle.

The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape shows the full potential of what these winemakers are capable off at a yet very reasonable price.

This outstanding vintage allowed to gather the various terroirs of Chateauneuf du Pape in this blend, more than 150 parcels have contributed to the elaboration of this 2010. Each grape type has been blended by terroir type and fermented separately.

What does it taste like ...

WINE MAKERS NOTES : This generous vintage gave a superb color, very expressive and complex nose fuil of fruits, flowers, spices and minerality. Tannins are well press yet silky.
The purity and crystalline nose of this wine allow each grape type to express itself as the wine opens. Aromas go from red fruits to black fruits, with white flowers, candied citruses as well a spicy notes.
The contentration and amount of mineral salts in this wine will guarantee an outstanding ageing potential.

Service at 15-17C°, will nicely pair a roasted prime rib, strong cheeses, game dishes as well as meat in sauce.

 

What it is made of ...

Grenache (60%), Mourvèdre (25%) Syrah (15%). 

Hand harvesting, desteming and sorting

Fermentation at very low temperature to favor soft diffusion of flavor compounds with daily tasting during maceration
No mechanical extraction during fermentation
Ageing for more than a year, in a combination of barrels for the Syrah and Mourvedre (1/3 new, 1/3 one year old, 1/3 two years old) and large wooden vats for the Grenache.

Average yield do not exceed 20HL/Hectare.

91 + Parker : Richer, fuller and denser is the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape, which is composed of 65% Grenache and the rest equal parts Mourvedre and Syrah. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by abundant notes of black fruits, licorice, lavender, Provencal herbs as well as a meaty richness.
